I’m Kevin Nix and I started Moral of the Story for bite-sized daily takeaways, without unnecessary drama or partisanship. We are living through massive disruptions happening all at the same time— in politics, media, and AI. To navigate these challenges and come out stronger, we collectively must be more strategic as voters and leaders. Our democratic way of life, built on freedom, equality, and prosperity, is on the line here. The people who are out there screaming about this possibility on both sides of the aisle are actually right.

Here I hope to:

  • Cut out the noise, fat, and necessary drama from politics.
  • Bottom line the best practices or best thinking at the time based on my experience, data and research, the wisdom of diverse thought leaders, and the general zeitgeist we're living in.
  • Make civic sketches short and to the point. I get you in and in out.

I also hold lives cohorts ($) to go deeper and answer questions for paid subscribers.

MOTS: My goal is to equip you as leaders and.or voters for the New World Order—whether you’re 20 or 80.

About me

Coming to you from Houston, Texas, well outside of the D.C./NYC elite corridor. (Yes, that's a good thing.)

I worked in politics and policy for 15 years in Washington, D.C. and in six states on national, high-impact public policy initiatives. As a national communications director and spokesperson, areas of my work have included healthcare, public health, marriage equality, the U.S. military, and a couple of short-lived candidate campaigns.

Education: Master’s degree in American Government from Johns Hopkins University and a higher education teaching certification from Harvard’s Bok Center.

Currently, I’m a lecturer in political science at the University of Houston.

My work has appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Politico, Wall Street Journal, Stanford Social Innovation Review, NPR, and Texas Tribune.
